FAQ

Are there any limits on the number of authentications I can do with Almefy?

To get started, you can secure up to 50 authentications for free if you’re a non-commercial user. Then, as you add more users and devices, we’ll scale up your subscription to help manage hundreds or thousands of monthly logins. Our Commercial S plan, for example, starts with 200 authentications per month. It all depends on what your requirements are. So, no, there are no authentication limits. Ask us for a quote!

Traditionally, 2FA and MFA security still asks for a password and username (the first authentication stage). Whenever you use a password, you’re at risk of compromise. With Almefy, we’ve made identity-based encryption (IBE) the cornerstone of digital security, authenticating users based on computerized tokens and a device rather than information anyone can steal. Almefy is also simpler than regular 2FA, cutting the process down into one easy authentication prompt. Find out more here [LINK > MFA/2FA blog].

The only piece of data we need is the unique identifier — usually a phone number or email address. We enroll these identifiers onto your system, matching them to individual users. It’s the lynchpin of IBE.

Yes, but not in the way that other authentication protocols tend to. Our identity-based keys expire as soon as each user logs in, so there’s no data hanging around in the network for an advanced hacking attempt. There’s a timeout on how long each account stays logged in, which you can toggle as a user admin — we suggest refreshing access every hour. Additionally, we don’t rely on digital certificates or a time sync between clients and servers. This means you have a safer security solution while avoiding issues associated with expired public/private key certificates.

Firstly, we’ve designed a REST API for secure information exchange. Secondly, Almefy integrates with an OAuth2.0-compatible workflow, offering granular, necessary access for third-party applications. And thirdly, our technology contains SDKs for common programming languages, and even one-click-install plugins and extensions for CMS, blog platforms, e-commerce sites and collaboration software based in the cloud using those APIs, as well as potentially OAuth2.0.

Absolutely! If you’re the administrator, you’ll see real-time log-in stats on your Almefy dashboard. From here, you’re able to block users, specify times at which they access their web accounts, or limit access for several weeks on sensitive, collaborative projects. It’s like lending a set of car keys with full control over what they can open and when you’ll get them back.

A large portion of our customers add Almefy into their current MFA process; therefore, if they lose their device, they can revert back to alternative ways of logging in. However, you can just re-enroll any user on a new device when it’s available. We’re working on an “emergency lock” to instantly block authentication on old or lost hardware.
